Saw operator
We are looking for a full-time Saw operator to join our team at our stonemasonry production site just outside Peterborough.
Main duties
- Unloading lorries of stone with forklift
- Loading stone onto stillages
- Putting stillages of stone into saws and programming them to cut walling / building stone
- Clearing up area with skid steer loading shovel & forward tipping dumper
- Checking pallet stock
- Manual labour / operating machinery
- Planning ahead and liaising with walling production Foreman to keep cropping line flowing each day meeting customers’ demands.
About you
A background in stone masonry or construction it is not necessary as full training will be provided.
- Experience working in production for a manufacturing company is an advantage, but not essential
- Forklift licence an advantage but not essential
- Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality
- The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team and managers
- We provide all PPE required for the role.
Working hours are usually 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday, however, some flexibility may be required and extended hours may sometimes be necessary to meet deadlines.

Stonemason
We are seeking skilled Stonemasons for both self-employed and employed positions.
- Self-employed contractors: £230–£320 per day
- Employed roles: salary negotiable depending on experience
Stamford Stone, a distinguished and well-established construction business, is searching for an experienced Banker Stonemason to join our team in the Peterborough area.
Duties and Responsibilities
We need a banker mason with experience, and you’ll need to be able to show that you have it. You will be sharing a workshop with other masons, who will help, support and train you as needed; you’ll have access to your own banker, extraction and lifting hoist. You must provide your own essential tools, but if you require additional tools, these can be provided.
As our Banker Stonemason, you will be required to:
- Read and interpret workshop drawings
- Cut and shape stone to the usual industry standards
- Adapt between standard building and higher-end projects
- Have physical strength, and the capability to work in noisy areas for extended periods of time
The main body of works coming up:
- High-end projects such as large-scale commercial colleges, staircases, and finishing CNC works
- Standard building components for plots (heads, cills, plinth, ashlar, string and band coursing, copings, and gable sets, etc.)
About the Role
This is a full-time Monday to Friday job role based on our premises. The hours are 7am to 4pm, and overtime is readily available.
We offer 28 days holiday, including Bank Holidays, free parking, and opportunities to progress within the team.
