The Challenge
Nothing is more satisfying than being involved with a project from the ground up.

Our client had ambitious self-build plans for a plot in the heart of Leicestershire countryside and approached us for advice and support as well as supplying all the stone. In fact, for this ambitious self-build project, we were delighted to be involved at every stage. From design and consultancy, through to advice on the choice of stone and finally internal and external fitting with tips on care
and maintenance.
Great properties are built on solid reputations – and there’s not much we don’t know about stone so we provided aggregate for the foundations, our beautiful Clipsham stone to build the house itself, limestone paving and sandstone cobbles in the grounds, with our fabulous Lincolnshire limestone flooring in the kitchen, classic marble tiles in the bathroom together with a large bespoke limestone fireplace, creating a truly inspirational interior… and a wonderful advertisement for natural stone!
Without doubt, this was a simply stunning project to be involved with.
Once the property was built, we helped create a timeless interior in keeping with the client’s preferred style. They chose the creamy tones of Walcott honed tiles for the kitchen and utility room – even kitting out the dog shower with the same choice of stone in a brushed finish. For the games room, our tough Charlbury Mix was the flooring of choice – a wonderfully adaptable limestone fusing soft grey with classic beige.
Upstairs, exotic Lima Cream with its tumbled edges and medley of soft vanillas was the perfect option for both walls and floors in the family bathroom; effortlessly elegant Rochelle adorns the master bedroom ensuite while another bedroom boasted an ensuite with Ottoman Grey’s enigmatic shades of grey with black silt swirls and contrasting straight edges on the walls, harmonising with Atom Grey’s soft shades of grey and light blue chosen for the floor. The second bedroom ensuite featured Reims, a popular blend of soft creamy tones with delicate fossil patterns for a timeless look on both the floor and walls with Lima Cream again chosen for the bathroom in the 3rd floor apartment.
The focal point in the beautiful lounge is a large bespoke fire hearth which presented a nice little challenge to the team. The sub base was already there but it was left with our talented design department to come up with a simple but elegant design in keeping with the client’s preferred style.
Seeing projects like this take shape, making widespread use of natural stone inside and out, is incredibly satisfying. The finished home is a wonderful blend of old and new, a testimony to the vision of the owner and the hard work and expertise of our dedicated team.
