As a leading limestone and natural stone supplier, Stamford Stone offers a range of products to suit the needs of our customers in the commercial, house building and conservation sectors.

Stamford Stone has been operating an expert service for 25 years and we are proud to own and operate two local quarries in Lincolnshire along the Oolitic belt. We acquired the Clipsham Medwells Quarry in 2001, followed by the Clipsham Bidwells Quarry in 2018, and ownership of our quarries provides our customers with confidence in the provenance and consistency of our limestone supply.

Ownership of our quarries has allowed us to become the exclusive global Clipsham stone supplier, with our stone being used on some of the most prolific buildings in the country including York Minster and Windsor Castle.

After being approached by Rushton Hall, we assisted in the development and building of their new Orangery. Some of the buildings at the site dated back to the 16th century, so it was essential that the stone we supplied blended seamlessly with the existing structure.

Not only did we quarry and supply the bespoke Clipsham stonework for the build of the Orangery, but we also worked with the architects to provide large-scale drawings of the different elevations and created full-size templates for the masons to work the stone from. Our expertise also allowed us to help design where any special fixings or steelwork would be required to help hold the stone in position.

We were also the limestone supplier for the development of Jesus College, University of Cambridge. This project presented the challenge of combining a modern and traditional design to refresh West Court. Using stone from our quarries at Clipsham Medwells and Greetham, our stonemasons provided vertical ribs of stone for the exterior walls that with a natural, rock-like finish, contrasted strikingly with the building’s smooth ashlar brickwork. Our Greetham limestone treads and risers were also used to clad the internal staircase.

Combining machine and hand carving techniques gave the masonry a classic finish, and the new modern features of Jesus College integrate spectacularly with the existing building and historic surroundings.

We provide an extensive range of natural stone flooring for interior and exterior use. Limestone floor tiles provide a smooth, easy-to-maintain surface that can be carried throughout the entire home. This simple but effective flooring solution adds beauty and value to the home.

  • As a classic English limestone tile, the Charlbury Beige has a neutral-warm palette to harmonise with any existing colour scheme. The solid beige tile is interspersed with detailed natural speckling for bespoke patterning in every tile.
  • Our handcrafted Walcott Aged are the perfect kitchen floor tiles to bring warmth into the kitchen area. With an aged, pillowed finish and subtle fossil markings, this honey and cream-toned tile emanates rustic charm

Natural stone isn’t just reserved for interior décor. As a hard-wearing paving material that requires minimal maintenance through the changing seasons, our sandstone slabs are a convenient landscaping option for busy residential homes.

Our sandstone pavers can create a stylish driveway or garden space to make the home look even more inviting.

  • To create a traditional paving area, our soft tumbled Heritage Autumn Cobbles come in a variety of sizes and creamy grey-pink tones for added depth.

Our sandstone slabs can also be used to create steps. Combine our Heritage Autumn Cobbles with our bullnose-edged Heritage Autumn Steps for a durable solution to heavy footfall.
