About Rushton Hall

Building Products has been talking about the use of our Clipsham limestone in the new build works at Rushton Hall.
Rushton Hall is a Grade I listed building in Northamptonshire. This premier hotel captures the time in which it was built, set in magnificent 16th-century settings in 25 acres of grounds.
In 2015, the £7 million works began on creating a new orangery which was completed in 2017, ready for its first wedding in the summer.
Due to the prominence of its historic stature, getting the green light to build the orangery was no easy feat. In fact, it took a decade to receive the required planning permissions to make the dream of a new orangery a reality.
The New Orangery

Since its completion, the orangery has become a huge part of Rushton Hall’s appeal. The new building is especially favoured as a wedding venue. Its 16th-century style, splendid views, and luxurious finish make it the perfect setting for romance.
And for good reason! The grandeur of the orangery is a sight to behold. You would never know you were stepping into a building created in the 20th century. The new orangery features a decadent entrance hall, a picture gallery, a ballroom and stateroom.

Stone Suppliers to the Orangery

We’re proud to say our limestone played a huge role in the construction of the new orangery at Rushton Hall. We are the worldwide exclusive stone suppliers of Clipsham limestone – an architectural stone that blends seamlessly with many historic buildings, making it the first choice for many conservation and restoration projects around the country.
Stone was fundamental to this build. The orangery boasts a stunning limestone façade and gleaming stone floors. All made more splendid in a setting filled with chandeliers, intricate ceilings, and high windows. And, of course, the orangery overlooks the beauty of Rushton Hall’s immaculate grounds.
And we didn’t only supply architectural stone. We also supplied stone flooring, tiles and landscaping products from our Stamford Stone at Home product range.
We’re Not Just Stone Suppliers. We’re Partners in Architectural Design.

We worked closely with our partners Pavilion Estates and Malcolm Strangeway Architects in creating the new orangery. Our expert knowledge of the qualities of our Clipsham limestone meant we were well-equipped to offer essential guidance on how to best use the limestone in the build.
We produced large scale working drawings for the architects’ reference. In particular, we gave advice for the production, joints, bonding and special fixings needed to work with our limestone.
It took eighteen months to create the orangery, working closely with the entire team. All bespoke stonework was quarried at our Clipsham quarry and manufactured at our stone processing centre at Helpston.
Specialist fixer masons took on the job of putting the stones together – a task which required accuracy down to the millimetre.
The Success of the New Orangery

On its first year anniversary, Rushton Hall posted a celebration of the orangery. The post cites the new space’s popularity with celebrities and big business names alike.
Tom Gilbert, the duty manager at Rushton Hall says:
“We are delighted with the orangery. Our clients and customers have been captivated by the building’s charm – Unilever, Jaguar Landrover, Mizkan, Honda, Fuji Film and Weetabix are a selection of brands that chose us, and I am confident that they are a true showcase that attests to how versatile our events space is. It has been a pleasure to welcome so many new clients to Rushton Hall’s new event space over the past year and to continue our exemplary delivery of service.”
Needless to say, we are exceptionally proud to have been a part of the design and build of the orangery as Rushton Hall’s chosen stone suppliers.
